Thank God For My Virtual Girlfriends

"I thank God for giving me great pals ...i have a couple of girlfriends who are like, healing. We take care of each other and they know when I need to be taken care of :-) "

This was my status message a while back and as expected it resulted in some sniggering comments " Oh! how some people live their life on networking sites". I felt bad FOR the person who said something so sarcastic and nasty because i knew she was missing out dearly on something so beautiful....an easy stress busting ritual i think we all should follow.

Yes i seriously think that what most of us lack in today's stressful life is an easy conversation.....somebody we can talk to about small ..silly things in life.We have spiritual guru's or wise people around us who can help us pass difficult times in life but what about simple things? There been times in my life when i have got stuck because of silly things. One cant go to his or her Guru and ask them to guide them as to which shoe she should buy...the trendy expensive metallic one or the more practical black one.we often dont realize that it really is the simplest things in our life that really truly make us happy.

Sometimes people are not comfortable talking about their feelings. They are afraid they will be judged. One has to realize keeping your emotions choked up inside is not going to help anyway. It will result in some sort of breakdown. Its importent to keep a light backpack on your shoulders when we walk our path of life. You can't tell your friends what's inside your backpack if you don't know what's in there yourself. Feelings are the same way. Before you can share them with anyone, understand them yourself and get ready to share.

While teenagers and young men and women have no problem socializing and finding mates and having an outlet for their emotions. Its the people in their early 30's and more who are going through their daily grind feel the stress. With the advent and increasing popularity of the internet, many social networking sites have come to their rescue. Here they can easily take some time off and reconnect with their old pals and feel rejuvenated.

I have a couple of real friends who i can turn to but its kind of embarassing and lil shallow to call them every time you buy a new dress/shoe/bag or pick up a phone and give them lurid details of small tiff you had with your husband or how remoseful you are feeling after yelling at your kids but hey when it comes to networking sites like Orkut or Facebook i am pretty shameless. I love to tell my friends about my latest purchases or moods. The way a person feels inside is important. It can be really hard not to tell anyone that you're feeling angry, sad, worried, or upset. If you dont express them then its just you and these bad feelings. Same way we need to show our happy feelings too.It feels divine to share a photo album of you having great time with your family ro frinds with others.

Its so beautiful how the conversation flows when i am online with my friends. We discuss everything under the sun from serious to fickle...no topic is spared. Its heartwarming to see how your "networking" friends slowly turn in to your real friends. How easy it is to pour your heart to them and how selflessly they share your pain. One is not bound by distances or time zones here. I post a query and by the time i am ready to listen there are few very interesting answers there already.

Through netwroking i have come in contact with some amazing women who have inspired me to be a better person. If it was not for facebook or orkut i would have just passed them on street not knowing how someone fights a battle with silent courage or how to be todays woman without being aplogetic about it. I have amazing mix of people on my friends list . People who inspire me to do my best and expand my horizons.

These days people no longer wear their emotions on their sleeves its more on their facebook status message. When ever i have read a good book or quote it has promptly found a space on my facebook or Orkut status. I often use facebook to share and get feedback about my work in pottery or writing. My friends have encouraged me a lot when i deserved it and gently pointed out my mistakes too. Lot of questions have been raised about the security threat such networking poses but i think if you use it in a sensible way we have the opportunity to keep in touch with friends and loved ones more easily than ever before. Like in every aspect of our life there should be a healthy mix of everything in our life.So go out there live your life to its fullest so that you have something to share with your friends.
